Outreach

The FPG Outreach Department was created in 2002 to fulfill a vital part of the Institute’s mission: “Cultivating and sharing the knowledge necessary to enhance child development and family well being.”

FPG has always taken the position that research provides important knowledge, yet it alone does not improve practice. FPG’s commitment to sharing the information generated completes the mission of “enhancing the lives of children and families.” In addition, some grants now require such broader “dissemination” as a condition of funding. The Outreach Department works with staff at each phase of a project.

Writing Grants: In today’s new media world, there are a multitude of strategies available to enhance your work. The days of simply creating a brochure are long gone. The Outreach Department can help strategize which communication tools will best assist you implementing the project and sharing the results with your intended audiences.

Supporting Projects: The Outreach Department can play an active role in crafting message that speak to your audiences, developing appropriate products, writing and editing, and providing a strategic communications framework for meeting your goals.

Sharing Findings: For projects with a research focus, Outreach works to ensure that a variety of mediums are used to share the results with all interested audiences. Snapshots, press outreach, podcasts, blogs, and listservs are just a few of the means that we use.
