As the Senior Web Coordinator, Robert administers the FPG Web servers and oversees virtually all of FPG's Web-related development. For nearly 20 years he has been involved in database development, network systems administration, and programming dynamic, interactive Web applications. He has been with FPG since 1997. Prior to taking the position as FPG's Webmaster, he worked for 7 years as the IT and Web technologies coordinator for NECTAC, one of FPG's largest, and longest-lived projects. Before joining the UNC IT community, Robert had his own consulting business, Computer Ease, which primarily served small businesses, non-profits, and individuals.
Robert is a strong advocate for Web standards, especially those related to accessibility. He has a Master's Degree in History from UNC (early modern European history of science and technology). His other interests include cooking, woodworking, fixing anything thing that's broken, Buddhist iconography, astronomy and telescope building (he has 6 telescopes but only two are fully functional at the moment).
